In 2014 I created a portfolio of drawings, paintings, pastels, to accompany a prose poem, “Because,” which I wrote and copyrighted in 2000-2002.

Below, are some details of images found in the portfolio. They are a resonse to the repeated phrase for each poem: “I am an Artist, because….”

In response to world and national events, to family tragedy, I wrote every day, creating images to reinforce my words. The memories of a childhood during the Second World War, my family’s struggles, immigration/citizenship problems, the environment, the airplanes which flew over our house, as pilots trained for assignments in Europe, my heritage, the relationship to current events, flooded together in my mind as a time event continuum.
